Insomnia is a disorder from which one though sleepy, is unable to sleep, or remain abnormally awake at night. Insomnia is a symptom of different health conditions or from psychological reasons. according to some psychologists restless sleep is also considered to insomnia. Insomnia can be with any age group but usually seen in elderly.Sleep inducing drugs although give a temporary relief but the patient can addicted to these drugs.
A few causes of insomnia could be Severe pain, difficulty in breathing, old age, fever, anxiety, fear or
terror, fatigue or exhaustion, physical or mental, nervous irritability and excitement, excessive worry or
agitation of the body and mind, depression or some cerebral disease.
Tranquilizers are used for temporary relief but over use of tranquilizers can have many side effects along
with addiction. The patient's mental health can get compromised and may cause irritability or apathy. In
alternative medicine insomnia can be treated and patients get their normal sleep pattern back.
